Springhill Suites by Marriott A four-story extended stay hotel with 128 rooms is going in just east of the northeast corner of Encanto Boulevard and 99th Avenue. The hotel will offer amenities including an outdoor seating area, outdoor pool, meeting spaces to work or relax, in-suite kitchenettes with mini refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker, convenient 24-hour market, free wi-fi in all suites and lobbies, and a fitness center with machines and free weights. The first guests are anticipated to begin their stays in early 2020.

Garden Lakes Parcel 10 and 13 Utility and Street Improvements Jackson & Washington Street Improvements $1.87M – Under Construction - Anticipated Completion Spring 2019
During the month of September, City contractors started construction to improve infrastructure within two Garden Lakes neighborhoods, as well as Washington and Jackson Streets in the southern part of the City. In the Garden Lakes community, the replacement of 245 residential water services and corroded main water valves are ongoing, and construction continues to install ADA compliant sidewalks and curb ramps and milling and overlaying the asphalt pavement on the roadway.
Along Jackson and Washington Streets east of Dysart Road and south of Van Buren Street, contractors completed improvements, including the overlay of asphalt pavement and miscellaneous concrete improvements.
CDBG Street & Waterline Improvement Project $3M – Under Construction - Anticipated Completion Spring 2019
Construction work began in May 2018 on the installation of new pavement, curb, gutter, sidewalk, sidewalk ramps, valley gutters, 8” water mains and other miscellaneous work in the area of Central Avenue to 3rd Street and Western Avenue to Southern Lane within Historic Avondale. Construction is underway, and the water main installation is complete. The concrete work is underway and pavement reconstruction will follow.
