The average workweek of senior living employees declined in the first quarter, but still remained above pre-pandemic levels. Senior living employees worked an average of 33.2 hours per week during the first quarter of 2022, which was down 0.7% from an average workweek of 33.4 hours during the first quarter of 2021. In comparison, employees worked an average of 32.8 hours during the first quarter of 2020. Within the senior living industry, the largest declines in hours worked were seen


at assisted living communities. Employees at assisted living communities worked an average of 33.3 hours per week during the first quarter of 2022, down 1.2% from an average workweek of 33.7 hours during the first quarter of 2021. Despite the decline, the workweek remained slightly above the average of 33.2 hours worked in the first quarter of 2020. Employees at continuing care retirement communities worked an average of 33.1


hours during the first quarter of 2022, essentially unchanged from the average work- week during the first quarter of 2021. Hours worked at continuing care retirement communities remained above the average of 32.4 hours worked in the first quarter of 2020.
