Carlsbad, Calif.-based Integral Senior Living will be managing a free-standing, 23-resi- dence memory care building, the Courtyard at Mt. Tabor Pavilion, in Portland, Ore., com- pleted in the autumn of 2019. It is an expan- sion of Courtyard at Mt. Tabor, a continu- um-of-care senior housing community that now off ers 309 residences for independent living, assisted living and memory care.


Minnetonka, Minn.-based New Perspective has opened the rental offi ce for New Perspec- tive-Franklin, in Franklin, Wisc. The 149-res- idence community off ers independent and assisted living apartments and Betty’s Har- bor, a secure neighborhood specifi cally de- signed for those with memory loss, as well as several dining venues, a salon, a movie theater, and a dance hall.


Sunrise Senior Living, based in McLean, Va., has collaborated with Philips, with U.S. head- quarters in Cambridge, Mass., to bring state- of-the-art technology to benefi t seniors and their families at Toledo, Ohio-based Welltow- er’s fl agship senior living community in New York City. Sunrise at East 56th is Manhattan’s fi rst of its kind assisted living and memory care community, serving as a premier technol- ogy showcase for seniors, helping to achieve wellness goals as well as supporting patients with mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s disease and related forms of memory loss. The project, which was conceived and fi- nanced by Welltower, is expected to open in the summer of 2020, with approximately 150 residences over 17 fl oors.


Watercrest Senior Living Group, based in Vero Beach, Fla., joined with The St. Joe Company to break ground on Santa Rosa Beach Assisted Living and Memory Care, in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. The 107- unit, 92,000-square-foot luxury senior living community is scheduled to welcome resi- dents in late 2020. It will off er 75 assisted living and 32 memory care apartments with resort-style service as well as its uniquely de- signed Market Street Residence, showcasing an “outdoor” streetscape with numerous LifeBUILT programming touches as part of its multi-sensory memory care programming.


MBK Senior Living, based in Irvine, Calif., extensively renovated MuirWoods Memory Care in Petaluma, Calif. The community reopened in October after a year-long, $1 million process that included making its outdoor courtyard secure and landscaped for cognitive stimulation and calming, staff training and advancement, and introduction of its MBK’s signature Connections for Living memory care program.


Louisville, Ky.-based Trilogy Health Services, has partnered with Tuition.io to help its em- ployees alleviate student debt and manage the cost of higher education. Benefi ts include student loan repayment assistance and schol- arships for employees and dependents. Cur- rently, over 1,200 employees ranging from nurses and therapists to administrative staff are participating in Trilogy’s student loan re- payment program. In addition, Trilogy has opened The Willows at Tiffi n, in Tiffi n, Ohio, with assisted living, post-acute healthcare, and memory care services.

Meals on Wheels OC’s 2019 Senior Care Hero Awards.™ The annual awards “cele- brate unsung heroes in the senior industry.”

Prior to joining Belmont Village Aliso Viejo, Harness was executive director at Belmont Village Cardiff by the Sea. She received Bel- mont Village’s 2015 President’s Value Cre- ation Award and the California Assisted Living Association’s 2016 Outstanding Di- rector Award.


Brentwood, Tenn.-based Brookdale received approval from the U.S. Department of La- bor to create a new certifi ed nursing assistant (CNA) apprenticeship program for on-the- job and technical training. Brookdale plans to pilot the program at communities in Chatta- nooga, Tenn., in 2020.


Chelsea Senior Living, based in Fanwood, N.J., celebrated the recipients of two awards from the Health Care Association of New Jersey this year. Ghandi Owusu-Bempah, a lead aide at The Chelsea at Manalapan, Manalapan, N.J., was named Caregiver of the Year. Bob Detrick, an eight-year resident of The Chelsea at Brookfi eld, Belvidere, N.J., won the Resident Better Life Award, an ac- knowledgment of special contributions made to the well-being of fellow residents.
