“We hated it. We were asked to leave our values at the door. It just didn’t sit right with us.”

In 2016, Laura was navigating a deeply personal turning point following a divorce and wanted to ‘take back control’. She decided to set up a business.

The early days were far from glamorous with Laura working alone, initially from home.

“I was at home with the pugs,” says Laura.

“We didn’t put the heating on because we were skint. We tried mailshots and LinkedIn messages and nothing happened. I remember thinking, ‘What are we going to do?”

Growth was steady until COVID brought everything to a halt as ‘nobody wanted to hire’, Laura recalls.

The sisters doubled down on visibility by committing to LinkedIn, video content and webinars.

“Because recruitment is a service, we had to lead with ourselves - who we are and what we stand for. Looking back, it was probably the best thing that ever happened to the business,” Laura says.

The turnaround was dramatic and Laura says the profit growth has gone up 164 per cent in the past year.

Fresh Perspective now employs 12 and operates on a radically different model from traditional agencies, separating sales and delivery to remove pressure and allow a genuine focus on service.

“Kindness runs through our core,” Emily says. “People thought it was pink and fluffy, but you can’t go wrong with kindness.”

Crucially, the Red Rose recognition has already translated into tangible business benefits. “The number of people that contacted us because we’d won was something else,” Laura says.

I’ve always loved working at Fresh, it’s definitely somewhere I feel valued, part of the Fresh family. I’m so happy that Fresh is getting recognition for changing up the recruitment industry and making it a positive experience for so many businesses. Laura and Emily have worked so hard to make Fresh what it is today, and I’m super proud to be a part of it.

Fresh is simply like no other office in the world. It’s not just the bright green carpet and army of dogs that’s makes us different. It’s the whole culture and determination to make positive change to an entire industry. The opportunities are endless, you walk through the door with zero experience and in a short space of time you’re a fully-fledged recruiter with the simple goal to do recruitment the in right way.

Awards 2026

Vicky Taylor operations manager

Five years ago, I joined Fresh as a talent seeker with no recruitment experience and little confidence. Fast forward to today, and I’m proud to be the operations manager as it was something I never imagined possible. I couldn’t have achieved what I have without Laura and Emily. They’ve always believed in me, pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped me achieve more than I ever thought possible.

“We’ve already done business with another winner, that’s already gone through.

“It’s elevated everything to a different level. People are more open to our contact now because we’ve won, and it’s already helped us grow this year and we think it will continue to do so.”

But for the sisters, the greatest value of winning the award lies in community. “The people in that room are our people,” Laura says.

“They’re Lancashire businesses supporting Lancashire, wanting to keep it in the county.”

Emily added: “When you’re appreciated for what you do, not just in your industry but outside it too, there’s a massive feel good factor.”

Looking ahead, the sisters have ambitions to expand into international markets.

Laura says: “We’ve recently revamped our service offering to clients, introducing

retainers, training and recruitment training, as well as reviewing internal recruitment processes to help businesses.

“We are very different to other recruitment agencies as we charge on a time-based model, which is unique in our sector.

“We promise to fill every vacancy that we take on and instead of us being their in-house recruitment managers, we’re an outsource function, very similar to an HR consultancy.”

As the business celebrates its 10th anniversary, the timing of the award feels symbolic.

Laura says: “People said we’d be lucky to make it to a year and here we are turning 10, still here, and winning awards.”

And for Fresh Perspective Resourcing, this is only the beginning. “We’re on a journey,” Laura says. “And now, we’ve got proof it works.”
