HUMBLE BEGINNINGS TO WINNING AWARDS
WHAT BEING A RED ROSE WINNER MEANS TO US
From starting in a small office above a village shop in Hoddlesden 15 years ago to picking up an award at the Red Rose Awards ceremony, Multevo’s rise shows no sign of slowing.
Multevo has established itself as a leading provider of highways, traffic management, aboriculture and specialist fleet services.
The Darwen based firm, finalists in the Built Environment and Large Business categories, were delighted to win the Lancashire Business View Award.
Josh Sweeney, director of marketing and growth, says that winning the award is another step on a ‘remarkable journey’.
Multevo started with just four people working above Hoddlesden Village Store and now the business employs more than 450 people across the country with over 100 in Lancashire.
Josh says: “It feels like a monumental moment for us and our history. We are incredibly proud of our roots and all of our people who go above and beyond, day-in- day out, to help us continually improve and evolve to do things differently.
“We broke through in 2020 and that’s
when we started to really see an upwards trajectory and began winning industry awards thanks to our unique offerings.
“We work all over the UK but now we can stand here and proudly say we’re well established in the county.
“In recent times, we’ve increased our workforce by 150 per cent and we work with the community, so I feel like this award has come at the right time for us.”
Looking ahead, Multevo aims to expand further into local authority work, rail, power distribution and construction.
Multevo recently established a sales and servicing partnership with Mercedes-Benz for specialist trucks range and launched seven innovations within its service offering.
With new products, new services and a new headquarters in Darwen, the business is on track to hit £50m turnover this year.
“We just want to keep building our roots in the community here,” Josh adds.
“Also, we don’t want to be your standard contractor or maintenance contractor, we want to be different. That’s why we’re always out there looking for innovative ways of working.”
When I first joined Multevo in 2020, there were just two women in the business. Now, we have 50 in the business including some in senior leadership roles which is great to see in a male dominated industry. I’m really proud to be part of Multevo’s journey.
Sean Scanlon operations manager
I’ve been here just over five
years. I started during lockdown as an operative.
I was a publican by trade but I had a health scare. Multevo gave me a chance and I started building teams here. It’s brilliant to see how we’ve grown and how the owners are investing in local talent.
Charlie Haworth HGV plant mechanic
Multevo was a lifeline for me as I was doing my apprenticeship at another business which shut down. They’ve helped me progress through different work roles. Since passing my apprenticeship, I’ve been given a lot more freedom to try things myself. The opportunities are endless here.
