If ever a business embodied the phrase “if at first you don’t succeed, try again”, it is Fresh Perspective Resourcing, as sisters Laura and Emily Leyland finally claimed Red Rose joy.
After years of being shortlisted, applauding others but leaving empty handed, the moment Fresh Perspective Resourcing’s name was announced saw one of the loudest cheers on the night.
Laura Leyland, co-founder, says: “It’s been a long time coming. We’ve tried and failed a lot to win a Red Rose.
“We’ve been entering since 2018, so to finally bag one was just an immense feeling.”
The disbelief was so complete that Laura admits the night would be a blur if not for the videos captured by friends and colleagues.
“I’ve watched them so many times. At the time, it was like floating – you’re thinking, what is going on?”
Emily added: “I actually roared. I couldn’t stop screaming. I just wasn’t expecting them to say our name – they never say Fresh Perspective, and then they did. It was unreal.”
For Laura and Emily, winning the Professional
Services Award went far beyond the silverware itself.
“We’re sisters, we’re business partners and we do so much locally for the community and for charity,” Emily says.
“We give back a lot. We run our own awards night. It’s never been about us so to finally win our own award was emotional.”
Before launching Fresh Perspective in 2016, the sisters had worked for a combined total of 11 recruitment agencies which was an experience Laura says was deeply uncomfortable.
