▲ Latest tourism figures show that visitors to Lancashire rose to 66.7 million, up by 2.8 per cent on previous 2022 figures. The county’s annual STEAM report, which evaluates the volume and value of visitors to Lancashire, has been released by Marketing Lancashire, the county’s Local Visitor Economy Partnership. The report also revealed 83 million visitor days were generated in 2023.


▲ Lakeland Verandahs from Preston is targeting a £1m Middle East opportunity having earned rave reviews for its work on of Dubai’s most iconic locations. A team of UK fitters – led by father and son Russell and Sam Milburn – completed the installation of its ‘Solidek’ product at Aura Skypool in just three months – to accommodate the venue’s full events calendar.


▲ Leyland Trucks has reached a major production milestone, manufacturing its 10,000th New Generation DAF XB at its state-of-the-art facility in Leyland. The landmark vehicle has been delivered to Maxi Haulage, a major player in the UK and Ireland’s haulage, logistics and distribution sector.


▲ Oswaldtwistle Mills has reported that coach bookings are up 50 per cent on last year. It has received 600 following the launch of its 2025 coach and group booking brochure.


▲ Blackpool’s Grand Theatre has announced the completion of a near year-long restoration and repair project, supported by Preston headquartered architectural, planning and building surveying practice Cassidy + Ashton. The work included repairing the Grade II* listed building’s stonework, replacing and repointing damaged brickwork, restoring the Victorian iron rainwater goods and replacing large areas of slate and lead on the two acres of roof.


▲ Fylde Council has unveiled plans for two significant regeneration projects aimed at enhancing accessibility, connectivity and the visitor experience in St Annes. The improvements, which form part of the wider St Annes Masterplan, include a transformation of Garden Street with a £1.5m investment and an additional scheme to enhance Orchard Road in partnership with St Annes Town Council.


▲ Road construction specialist Multevo ranked 398 out of 1,000 firms in the Financial Times Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies list. It was also ranked 68th in the UK and 61st in the construction and engineering category. The business was established in 2010 above Hoddlesden Village Store with just four members of staff and now has more than 340 people working nationwide.


▲ A Helmshore-based security business has secured a host of contracts across a number of sectors, including construction, sport and hospitality, in its first few months of operation. Alan Townley set up Aztek Security Services last summer after a decade working in the industry.


▲ Lancaster-based brand and digital consultancy, EXP, has secured three new projects in the property and education sectors. EXP has been appointed by heritage and sustainability consultancy, Woohoo, The Deanery Church of England High School and Lancaster University Management School.


▲ The corporate team at Lancashire law firm Brabners has advised on the purchase of Lord Sugar’s stake in a multi-million-pound engineering and technology recruitment agency. Based in Reading, Hernshead Group was established by Tom Johnson, pictured left, in 2019 and gained investment from Lord Sugar’s vehicle Amsvest. It recently hit £3.5m turnover has been re-acquired by its founder through a management buyout.


▲ Burnley’s Sandygate regeneration project, which includes the extension of the University of Central Lancashire campus, has been shortlisted for a prestigious placemaking award. Over the last decade, the area has been transformed, with the restoration of Victoria Mill, Sandygate Mill, the iconic Slaters Terrace and, more recently, Newtown Mill, alongside new public realm and contemporary buildings accommodating student halls and residential apartments.


▲ Inciner8, a global leader in sustainable waste management incineration solutions, has officially opened its new purpose- built headquarters in Burscough, marking a significant milestone in the company’s continued expansion. The new HQ was opened by the government’s small business minister Gareth Thomas.


▲ Aerospace engineering company Airframe Designs has completed a groundbreaking R&D project co-funded by Innovate UK to advance the ultra-polymer additive manufacturing of aircraft cabin interior parts. The 18-month government part-funded project was led by the Blackpool based company.
