Tim Webber Chairman, Barnfield

Who we are

We are contractors, developers and investors active on more than 30 sites throughout the UK, predominantly in the North West.

A market leader in our field, we have an excellent track record in almost every sector of the industry including commercial, industrial, health, education, residential, retail and leisure.

What we’ve achieved

We recently completed the £32m Northlight project, a major destination for living, working, learning, leisure and culture.

The 100,000 sq ft Limitless development in Nelson recently completed, ensuring the longevity of Lomeshaye Industrial Estate as a hub for local employment.

We are also on site at Newtown Mill, Frontier Park and many more sites, with 2024 promising to be another successful year for the group as we welcome new clients and contracts.

Why we love Pendle

We are proud of our Pendle roots and since we opened our doors in 1976 we have built over 1,500 homes in the area and we will soon bring a further 53 homes to Spring Mill, Earby.

In Lancashire alone we have developed over 40m sq ft of industrial space and in Pendle we have built over 140 commercial and industrial properties for local businesses.

Colne Business Improvement District (BID) is a business-led and business-funded body. Businesses in a pre-defined area pay an annual levy (a percentage of their rateable value) to generate funds to invest in the town centre. We use the funds to develop projects that meet one or more of our four key objectives: Promote, Pride, Protect and Partnership.

What we’ve achieved

We recently delivered the beautiful WinterBloom Light Festival in Colne town centre, a celebration of our community groups, schools and Pendle-based artists through light art, puppetry and big makes. The plans for the rest of the year include a Super Soapbox Challenge, in partnership with Nelson and Colne College, a Food and Drink Festival, a 70s festival to celebrate the decade – plus Pendle turning 50!

We attend expos across the north and collaborate with lots of organisations to bring in investment to the town, which is something we will continue to do.

Why we love Pendle

We love promoting Colne town centre, it really is a treasure trove of independent shops, local craftmanship and quirky interiors. We have the most welcoming bars and eateries, from micro-breweries to cocktail bars.

Who we are

We’re a passionate and creative team who work with clients that want to drive their business forward. Whether it’s a new website, corporate identity, marketing campaign, product launch or exhibition, if it can be designed or marketed, we can do it!

Formed in 2002, we have clients that date back nearly 20 years and many more that we’ve worked closely with for over 10 years.

What we’ve achieved

We recently launched the Thwaites Zone intranet for Daniel Thwaites, and manage over 100 of their pub websites. We’re redesigning four websites for Pendle Leisure Trust and have launched a fantastic branding project for Fisher More School.

REM Earth is a new eco range of salon and spa furniture launched last year and we’re making great headway building that brand and developing direct sales.

Why we love Pendle

We only moved to Pendle in March, after buying offices at Vantage Court. We love the local hospitality spots such as the Forest, Fence and the amenities of Barrowford.

The surrounding area has some great advanced manufacturing and all kinds of niche and diverse businesses. We find It’s a warm and welcoming place to do business and we look forward to bright future here.

Nelson and Colne College Group, made up of Nelson and Colne College, Accrington and Rossendale College and Lancashire Adult Learning, has been working with learners and employers alike across Pendle and the wider region, for half a century.

Together, we are shaping tomorrow’s workforce, by helping businesses to plug those skills gaps with talented, experienced, and qualified employees.

What we’ve achieved

In March 2022, we were recognised as the only outstanding FE college in Lancashire. Fast-forward two years and we were assessed as the best college in the country for Adult Learning.

I am rightly proud of these achievements and realise they have happened because we put local businesses at the heart of our learning. They have played a pivotal part in creating and delivering a curriculum that will continue to provide Pendle with a skilled, motivated, perfectly prepared workforce for the future.

Why we love Pendle

Nationally, over half of employers say they do not feel young people are prepared for the workplace. We know that’s not the case here.

Thanks to the college and business community, when it comes to industry shaping employees, Pendle is positively booming!
