the year, I just saw it as me doing my job but my managers really wanted to recognise the work that I was doing.
“I am a little bit of a people pleaser and saying ‘no’, is not really a word in my vocabulary. I just like to genuinely help people and do a good job.”
Shocked by her win at the time, she adds: “It is great that when I turn around in my chair and see the award, I can say, ‘oh yeah, I did win that!’
“It was really nice to celebrate the awards and get that kind of validation.”
She says, being part of Sub36 has had other benefits too. “Sub36 is a really good idea and format.
“I am not a massive fan of networking but having that group to connect with younger business owners and movers and shakers locally is great.”
So, what next for Amy? She says: “I want to continue to learn and grow.
“When I get a new role, I want to better myself in it and I don’t want to sit there and just assume I know how to do it.”
Amy says the best piece of advice she has been given in her career was from CBP chair Mike Murray and former chief executive Amanda Meachin: “You can do whatever, just give it a go. You just roll your sleeves up and get it done.”
Apart from DIY, when not at work Amy also loves going to Comic Cons and Star Wars conventions.
She says: “If you are a geek, embrace it! I’m pretty sure it was some geeks who invented half of the social media, which in so many ways run the world.
“I’m also quite family oriented and sometimes at the end of a long week, whether it’s been stressful or not, I love nothing more than to sit at home with a decent story and my cat and just relax.”
SPOTLIGHT Sheroze M Nadeem Associate solicitor, Forbes Solicitors Personal achievements in business?
Navigating difficult situations and finding a solution that may often not seem possible at the outset.
Tell us about your job and how long have you been working for the company?
I am a commercial litigator and have been at Forbes for more than three years.
Tell us something that people may not know about you?
Prior to my career in law, I launched a clothing brand and business which has grown year on year. I really can understand the struggles of SMEs on a relatable level of being the marketing, design and warehouse team all in one in the early days.
Those skills have allowed me to really understand the struggles and needs of my clients and I would hope to say taught me a lot.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
If we look back five years, I think it’s safe to say many of us wouldn’t realise how much we can and have achieved in that time period.
In an ideal world, I would like to be actively involved in more humanitarian relief efforts and widely recognised as a leading commercial litigator with Forbes with many more client results in and out of court.
What are the benefits for you and your business of engaging with Sub36?
There are future leaders coming together and it is always great to work with and get to know other professionals better. Doing so in a relaxed environment at this stage of our careers can only lead to building better personal and professional relationships for ourselves and our respective clients too.

Olivia McCaughran, who leads Sub36 activities for Lancashire Business View, said: “We had such a great mix of businesses in the room, some regulars and others attending a Sub36 networking event for the first time. It was great to see everyone connecting so effortlessly.
“We have some exciting plans for 2025, we’re looking forward to growing the Sub36 community even further.”
