Tim Knowles Founder and managing director

About us

As part of the FIREM group of brands, FI Developments is focused on redefining the industrial development landscape, driving a robust pipeline of projects, contributing to an investment portfolio value of £1.3 billion over the next decade. We operate across the entire project lifecycle, from land acquisition to letting management, maintaining quality and control at each stage, through our Design, Build, Rent model.

Our achievements and future plans

We have a portfolio of over 7.5 million sq ft across more than 30 sites in the UK, including the 405,386 sq ft Botany Bay Business Park, and we’ve just submitted plans for Stanworth: a new 1.3m sq ft strategic site bordering Chorley and Blackburn. We’re also now working on Botany Bay phase two, creating a further 322,560 sq ft of industrial space across the canal.

Why we like doing business in Chorley

Our founder and managing director, Tim Knowles, is Lancashire born and bred, so all roads lead back here. Our investment in Chorley totals £1.3bn so far, driving further inward investment by attracting national occupiers and providing opportunities from an employment and skills perspective. Chorley’s strategic location and the M65 corridor provides opportunity to meet vital employment land needs, facilitating growth to the local economy which we’re proud to be a part of.

fi-rem.com About us

Fresh Perspective offer a new, trustworthy approach to recruitment – developing strong collaborative relationships with clients, taking away the hassle and headaches of finding great people – we even promise to fill your vacancy. Our pricing is fair with no outdated, high percentage placement fees and we also help our clients to improve their recruitment and onboarding processes with our HR services and recruitment training support.

Our achievements and future plans

This year we’ve sourced and hired 127 new team members for 68 clients and saved customers thousands compared to traditional recruitment fees. We love making a difference, so we’ve raised over £30,000 for charity and planted 127 trees (one for every vacancy we fill). We’re expanding our service in 2025 to work in true partnership with our clients and manage their entire recruitment process and strategy.

Why we like doing business in Chorley

Chorley is a great location as it’s easy to get to Manchester, for example, due to the transport links, but we also have Rivington, Cuerden and Yarrow Valley on our doorstep as well as lots of local history. Recent investment into the area has been fantastic in terms of retail, leisure, housing and industrial developments, retaining business in the area, attracting more people and creating more jobs.

parkhallhotel.com About us

Thule Media provide digital marketing and web development services very much with a technical bias and are celebrating being in business 25 years. The company evolved out of Carl’s background as a rocket scientist with BAE / Royal Ordnance and starting out at the height of the Dot Com era as one of the UK’s first search engines designed to perform brand monitoring and risk management services.

Our achievements and future plans

As the internet and technology in general become more complex we appear to have become the “go to” agency to undertake the type of work that the more creative agencies struggle with. Over the years we have worked on some very interesting and complex projects despite having a relatively small team and, in turn some clients have remained with us for over 15 years.

Why we like doing business in Chorley

Most of the team originate from the Chorley area and enjoy being here. Having travelled large parts of the western world with BAE Carl realised that the more he travelled the more obvious it was that Chorley has a bit of everything. It’s far from perfect but it is very much central for business, transport and recreation including easy access to the countryside.
