DrainSafe LAUNCHPOSTPONED

• TheCovid-19outbreakhascausedNADCto postponethelaunchofDrainSafetoFebruary 2021whichishugelyfrustratingforall involved inthisvitallyimportant schemefor theindustry.

• There are anumberof reasons, andallof them practical andnotofNADC’smaking.

• Firstof all,DrainSafe requires that all approved contractorswillbe competent toprovide the services that theyofferwithrecognised qualifications toevidence this.TheCovid-19 pandemichas causeda completehiatus in thedeliveryof trainingandqualifications whichmeans that thosewishingtobe amongst thefirst registrantsof the scheme maynotbe able toaccess the trainingthat enables themtoapply.Clearly access to trainingis vital for thosewishingtobe early adoptersof theDrainSafe standard.

• The secondreasonis thatNADChad scheduleda seriesof regionalmeetings for member (andnon-member) contractors to consultwiththe industry andgatherfirst handfeedbackonthedetail andhowthe scheme couldbe further enhanced. These eventshavehadtobepostponedindefinitely andwewillonly reschedule these asCovid-19 restrictions allow.NADCbelieves that undertakingthis vital consultationon-line is sub-optimal andwewillonlydothis in absoluteneed.

• The event atwhichDrainSafewas tobe launched(No-DigLive inSeptember)has beenpostponeduntilMarch2021.

• Anumberof face tofacemeetingswith important stakeholdershadtobe cancelled due tothe crisis, andwhilst thesemeetings arenowbeingheldon-line therehavebeen inevitabledelays.

UltimatelygettingDrainSafe right at theoutset, andthat includes themost effective launch acrossboththe industry andwithall customers ofdrainage contractor services, has tobe the absolutepriority.
