DanishWastewater Plant opts for Actuator Automation using CK CentronikModular Actuators A

Danishwastewater treatmentworks hasmoved frommanual to automated valve actuation after ordering Rotork CK range

electric actuators completewith integral Centronik controlmodules. Rotork CKc actuators provided the customerwith a robust and reliable solution togetherwith a reducedmaintenance requirement. Our local Danish partner Fagerberg AS ordered isolating duty CKc actuators to be installed by Holsted Smedie at Lolland Forsyning’s Renseanlaegget Hunseby Strand purification plant, located on the Danish island Lolland, where theywill be used to operate penstock and gate valves. The actuatorswill be connected using the Profinet® network protocolwhich supports speeds up to up to 1.5Mbit/s. Every year the plant treats approximately 2.8millionm³ ofwastewater discharged into the Smålandsfarvandet. The plantwas built in 1977 before being upgraded to unmanned remote operation in 2003with newequipment added in 2018. Two of Lolland Forsyning’s other wastewater treatment sites, RødbyhavnWastewater Treatment Plant and DannemareWastewater Treatment Plant, both use Rotork intelligent IQ electric actuatorswith Profinet. The CKc includes all the features included in a standard CKmodel. The actuator is capable of a direct output torque range from10 to 500 Nm (7 to 369 lbf.ft). It offersmodular plug and socket connection for easier wiring in the fieldwhile itmaintains continuous valve position indication even during power loss. The Centronikmodule enhances the actuator’s capabilities further by providing intelligent control and integrationwith other site control systems. Rotork CKc actuators can be remotely configured and operated using selector switches on the Centronik housing or a Rotork Setting Tool using either infrared or Bluetooth interfaceswhile a backlit display ensures position and status information is visible even in direct sunlight

A new Rodding Sondes range for Dart Systems D

art Systems has launched a newrange of Rodding Sondeswhich are available in 33Khz and 8Khz frequencies initially. The new

Sondes are a development of the company’s existing Sonde technology used in its line ofDrain Inspection Cameras.

The standalone Rodding Sondes are powerful battery powered transmitters, offering superior battery life, used in tracing non-metallic pipes and ducts underground and are locatable to depths of up to 7 Mtrs dependant on soil conditions. The robust transmitters are tested towithstand the usualwear and tear on site and are pressure tested and thereforewaterproof to a depth of at least 30Meters.TheM10 bolt can be used to connect the Sonde to a variety of pushrods,Cobras orDuct /Drain Rods. The bolt is fittedwith

or adverseweather conditions. Either side of the display are LED indicators to showposition, torque, alarmstatus and connection activity. This information is also recorded on a data logger showing actuator starts, status and events on screenwhile the data can also be securely downloaded to a PC and analysed using Rotork Insight 2 software. Themodular nature of the Centronik controlsmeans all standard features common to all CK actuators are present including IP68 (8m/ 96 hours) double-sealed environmental protection,motor-independent handwheel operation, mechanical valve position indication and independent torque and position sensing for increased valve protection.

aNyloc Insert designed to ensure that the Sondewill not unscrew during normal use. Avariety of accessories are available fromDart Systems for fitting Sondes tomost Push Rods orCobraswhich are alsomanufactured by Dart Systems. If youwould likemore information on this range, or are interested is a demonstration, please contact the office.
