the system itself, it was the people, everybody we’ve talked to at CSI has been very personable, very professional, very interested in CSB and getting to work with us,’ he said. ‘We didn’t get that feeling with the other vendors.’ Wolfe added that the Nupoint technology assured CSB that


it could provide the bank with ‘service, speed and reliability’. ‘In the system demonstrations it looked simplistic, but it was very comprehensive in how it would work,’ he said. ‘It’s just so much more modern than what we have now.’ As part of the upgrade, CSI provided several other services to CSB, including Voice over IP (VoIP) technology, online banking services, a complete revamp of website design and functionality and managed services for hardware. The bank also took DepositPro and LaserPro from CSI’s rival, Harland Financial Solutions, for its deposits and loan management, and Wolfe hoped that these would be in place prior to the cutover to Nupoint. CSB had been using ComplianceOne from Wolters Kluwer for this, but Wolfe said ‘we wanted to run away from that as fast as we could’. DepositPro and LaserPro were taken in-house, but CSI was contracted to manage the software on behalf of the bank. CSB opted against upgrading its existing Fiserv systems,


as Wolfe felt there were some issues with the vendor. ‘We don’t get a lot of service out of them,’ he said. He added that while there was a great sales pitch from Fiserv, he felt the vendor’s attention to the bank wavered after the implementation. Wolfe hoped that by taking Nupoint on a hosted basis,


the relationship with CSI would be more beneficial in the long term, and would give CSB greater security and service to its customers.


CSI signed its first Californian customer for the Nupoint


core banking system, Bank of Southern California. The project kicked off in 2015 and product mapping phase has just been completed. The incumbent solution, FIS’s Bankway, was so outdated and required so many manual workarounds that the users had to put in long hours and were feeling overworked. 2016 witnessed a significant number of deals for CSI. In June 2016, New York-based Rondout Savings Bank selected CSI as its new core technology provider. In December 2016, Two Rivers Bank & Trust, headquartered in Iowa, chose NuPoint as its core banking solution. In October 2017, Wisconsin-based First Bank of Baldwin selected NuPoint as its new core and mobile banking technology provider. In the next month, Tennessee-based Studio Bank (In Organization), which filed its application to become the city’s first newly chartered de novo bank in nearly a decade, also selected NuPoint. Core as well as digital capabilities would be directly integrated including self-service features like card on/off, mobile deposit, and commercial cash management.


In early 2018, four US banks signed up for NuPoint.


This includes Kensington Bank, United Community Bank, Neighborhood National Bank and Victory State Bank.
