Erebero Hills BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST, UGANDA

LUXURY MEETS UNTAMED WILDERNESS AT EREBERO HILLS, A SUSTAINABLE LODGE SET HIGH IN THE HILLS OF THE BWINDI IMPENETRABLE FOREST IN UGANDA

Part of the Asilia Africa collection, Erebero Hills is a new luxury lodge in Uganda, which is set to welcome its first guests in early 2026. Nestled on the northern fringe of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, Erebero Hills provides the perfect base for adventures into the wild. Within the park, guests can view an incredible diversity of wildlife, including the highest concentration of one of the world’s most endangered species — the gorilla.

Paving the way forward For over 20 years, Asilia Africa has been leading the way in unforgettable immersive safari experiences in Kenya and Tanzania, while being at the forefront of protecting and restoring vital natural landscapes and improving the livelihoods of local communities. Asilia’s latest project, Erebero Hills, marks a significant expansion of the East African footprint, adding an incredible guest experience perched high on the fringe of the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This national park is a vast area of high-altitude mountains, known

for its thick vegetation, mists, streams and dew, and endangered gorilla families. It also holds deep cultural significance as the ancestral land of the Indigenous Batwa People, with a rich heritage and connection to Bwindi. Erebero Hills, meaning ‘a place where you can

see far’, will be situated in 45 acres of reforested land, with architecture that harmonises with the natural landscape, drawing inspiration from the shapes of leaves and the contours of the surrounding hills. The lodge is being constructed primarily from bamboo — a renewable resource that is locally sourced, supporting sustainable bamboo plantations in the region. Through Erebero Hills, Asilia Africa is

committed to establishing a new, reforested buffer zone around the existing national park to further support wildlife, help preserve the Batwa cultural heritage and develop sustainable and economic livelihoods for local Bakiga communities. More than 25,000 indigenous trees have already been planted.

Sustainability meets style Open year-round, the lodge will feature eight exquisitely designed suites, each with their own viewing decks, which have 180-degree views of the forest. Indoor and outdoor showers, as well as a bathtub with a view, guarantees guests will always feel close to the forest. To truly immerse and connect with these

surroundings, travellers can opt to relax and rejuvenate in the heated plunge pool on warm and cooler days, followed by a cocktail at the open-air bar with a terrace. There will be hammock nets perched at the end of the pool deck to sit or lounge on, too. In-room spa treatments after a day’s gorilla

trekking are also available. Excellence in hospitality, food and service will

ensure that Erebero Hills shines at its home in Uganda, which is known as the ‘Pearl of Africa’. This includes the creation of a syntropic food, planted at the lodge, which will grow many of the fruits and vegetables that will form part of the

all-inclusive dining menu. There’ll also be a live- cooking station where chefs will prepare meals in front of guests and an elegant sunken fireplace lounge with a roaring fire for cooler evenings. A beautiful central staircase will take guests

down to the lower section of the main area, which will be complete with a wine cellar and library. This is also where guests will depart from to reach their rooms and take the many walks and tours on offer.

A paradise for outdoor adventures Besides being a luxurious base for gorilla trekking, Erebero Hills offers guests a variety of curated experiences to learn about the local community and landscape. Options range from nature walks to tea garden tours and tastings, reforestation excursions, Batwa community visits and cultural activities like beadwork, weaving, candle- and soap-making. The closest airstrip is just 90 minutes by transfer

and access to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is easy to incorporate as part of a wider trip within an East Africa or a Uganda-only itinerary. After a stay at

Erebero Hills, guests can continue onward by road to other national parks such as Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls and Kibale Forest. Children five years and above are welcome, but the minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years old. There are four gorilla trekking points in Bwindi

Impenetrable Forest. As Erebero Hills is on the northern side, there’ll be a choice of two trekking locations. Ruhija trekking point is the closest to Erebero Hills, a 30-minute drive from the lodge. Alternatively, Buhoma is approximately one hour’s drive. Both points allow guests proximity to start trekking early in the day. Asilia Africa pioneers sustainable investments in

vulnerable East African wilderness areas, fostering conservation economies for local communities and increasing biodiversity. By making bold investments in areas that are ecologically and economically vulnerable, Asilia aims to turn these areas into viable conservation economies. With the help of guests, Asilia can make a positive impact towards empowering these areas, the communities, and the wildlife that call them home.

DON’T MISS Pair once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking with a luxury haven, allowing you to feel closer to the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
