PAID CONTENT FOR HOTEL MARCEL NEW HAVEN, TAPESTRY COLLECTION BY HILTON PAID CONTENT FOR

Hotel Marcel New Haven CONNECTICUT, UNITED STATES

Located in New Haven’s historic Long Wharf district, Hotel Marcel is just one mile from Amtrak’s Union Station and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Yale University. It’s also within easy reach of the Shubert Theater, Wooster Square’s legendary pizzerias and the many sailing, rowing and shopping experiences around the area. The hotel has 165 guest rooms and suites, as well as an on- site restaurant and bar, BLDG. Amenities include a fitness centre, lobby lounge, complimentary parking and an electric shuttle service. Opened in May 2022, the boutique hotel is

making history as the country’s first all-electric, solar-powered, LEED Platinum-certified, zero- emission hotel — operating free of fossil fuels. Hotel Marcel’s sustainable efforts also extend

to its food and beverage services, including locally cultivated fare at BLDG. Helmed by chef Megan Gill, the restaurant’s highlights include the ‘Sustainabowl’ grain and veggie bowl, the Massachusetts skate and house fries, and the New York strip steak from Old Lyme, Connecticut. A range of beverage options from regional distilleries

and breweries are also available, as well as a selection of sustainable, organic and biodynamic wines. BLDG sources produce from farms and suppliers that don’t use pesticides, which has a significant impact on local water supplies. The restaurant also composts food waste, uses linen-less tables to reduce laundry, monitors the practices of their partner-farmers and uses minimal frozen foods. BLDG is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner and happy hour, while the coffee and espresso bar is open from 6.30am to 1pm daily. An icon of brutalist architecture, the original

building that’s now Hotel Marcel was constructed in 1968 and designed by influential modern architect Marcel Breuer. The building, which is listed on the State and National Register of Historic Places, uses bare building materials over a decorative design. Equally impressive as its exterior, the hotel’s Bauhaus-inspired interior design maintains much of the original building’s beauty and the spacious open-plan suites have kitchenettes and bespoke living areas with sculptural lighting, patterned textiles and textured finishes.
