LIFE BY LEXUS 28

T

o intersect is to cross paths, or to have one or more points in common – the perfect name to describe a lifestyle hub that reflects the Lexus

brand’s design and ethos. Intersect by Lexus begins with an idea –

the creation of a physical space that wows, both in terms of its aesthetics and the experiences it offers. The luxury space has been created for like-minded people to create, debate and collaborate, a place to enjoy fine food and entertainment, to be wowed by technology, art and design. It’s a place where inspiration lives. Following successful launches in Tokyo

and Dubai, Intersect by Lexus-NYC has found a home in the heart of the vibrant Meatpacking District in New York City. The concept was crafted by world- renowned architect Masamichi Katayama of Wonderwall, who is also behind the Tokyo and Dubai installations. The three-storey Manhattan space is

the largest of the three properties. The street level opens up with the Café area, Crafted by Lexus retail area, and a public gallery space. The second floor houses the Restaurant at Intersect by Lexus-NYC and Cocktail Bar and Lounge, with the Private Gallery found on the third floor. “New York City is an important global cultural hub with a great spirit of collaboration, making it a perfect location for Intersect by Lexus,” explains Yoshihiro Sawa, President of Lexus International. “The uniquely designed space combined with the curiosity and imagination of the city’s people will serve to inspire the next generation of creators and innovators.”

THE CONCEPT If Lexus were a lifestyle, this would be

it. The space embodies both the brand’s design and the city’s identity. The idea is for visitors to experience Lexus through the senses of touch, smell, taste, sound and, of course, sight, based on its five core pillars (hospitality, food, design, entertainment and technology). Through the blending of the imaginative and versatile spaces, visitors have a snapshot of New York City’s culture, blended with the Lexus ethos. At its heart is the spirit of omotenashi.

Simply translated, omotenashi is the Japanese way of treating a guest – the blend of welcoming warmth, understanding and, above all, respect. As a core value of the Lexus brand, this ensures that Intersect by Lexus, and its staff anticipate a guest’s needs before they even arise – the dedication to truly exceptional service. Embodying the brand’s design values,

visitors can experience the craftsmanship for which Lexus is known through
