THE TUNDRA THAT SAVED LIVES
A nurse who bravely drove through the deadly fires in California, USA, so that he could return to duty has been given a new Toyota bakkie, after his own was badly scorched. Allyn Pierce drove his Tundra through the
fire in the town of Paradise to help patients who hadn’t been evacuated. At one stage, he recorded a farewell message to his family when he was surrounded by flames, but he escaped with melted rear lights and side-mirrors, as well as charred metal. Afterwards, he posted a photo of his pick-up on Instagram with the caption: “This truck literally saved my life today.” Pierce lost his house to the flames, but at least he had his vehicle replaced. “Toyota’s so humbled by Mr Pierce’s selfless act that we’re pleased to offer him a brand-new Tundra,” the company said.
AGRICULTURAL SHOW SETS SAIL
