NEW PRODUCT Several mergers and acquisitions were completed in 2024 that enabled long-haul specialists to extend their reach. Luxury tour operator Caribtours and ID Travel Group
are now one. The merger means Caribtours’ luxury stamp can be rolled out farther across the Americas, South Pacific, Africa and Asia, while continuing in its Caribbean heartland and beyond. Travelpack, meanwhile, acquired Infinity Media Promotions, taking advantage of Infinity’s focus on cruise and Latin America. A new trade website means agents can now dynamically package tailor-made cruise options with rail travel or land stays and flights. In October, tailor-made operator First Class Holidays acquired sister brands African Pride and Knighton Reeve, which specialise in Africa and the Indian Ocean respectively, while in November, Inside Travel Group heralded an “exciting next phase of growth” after securing a £20 million investment deal. Other long-haul operators have expanded their
portfolios. Kuoni has broadened its Caribbean range with additions in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic; Aruba has been added to Classic Collection’s Caribbean programme; First Class Holidays introduced Japan; and Abercrombie & Kent set up a DMC in Mexico. Sister brands Just Go and National Holidays, meanwhile, made their first foray into the long-haul market with the addition of Sri Lanka to their portfolios
Latin Routes, having hosted 40 agents at its second
‘agent academy’ in Peru, has also been busy expanding in Central America. The operator added Belize and then Guatemala to its programme, and has plans to add more destinations in the region in the coming months.
