such as the Anti-Atlas Mountains of Morocco, plus Pakistan and Greenland. The operator also launched its first women’s tours to Saudi Arabia this year.
NEW TOURS When it comes to new product, tour operators have been expanding their programmes left, right and centre. In September, Titan Travel unveiled its largest-ever Worldwide brochure, including some departures that are on sale more than two years in advance. New tours include an Antarctica expedition taking in Rio and Iguazu Falls, and a Mystic Realms of India & Bhutan tour. G Adventures, meanwhile, is returning to Tibet for the
first time since the pandemic, while Newmarket Holidays has added tours of the Adriatic coast and expanded its range of Africa safaris, including its first tour in Tanzania.
COACH AND RAIL Demand for coach tours has remained strong too – despite the challenges of price inflation and hold-ups in cross-Channel services – according to the Coach Tourism Association. It attributes this, in part, to the tours being launched by operators. Eleven new coach tours feature in Shearings’ European collection, released in June, to destinations including Portugal, Croatia, Spain and Ireland. New to its UK programme is a five-day Sandringham and Norfolk Broads at Dunston Hall itinerary, which includes an exclusive after-hours tour of the royal residence. JG Travel Group – the parent company of Just Go Holidays and National Holidays – introduced five JG Explorer coaches in May, which offer extra legroom to provide more comfort for passengers. Coach holiday specialist Caledonian Leisure, which launched in 2021, meanwhile, welcomed its millionth customer this year. Rail travel is also getting its fair share of the pie, with
new European sleeper trains contributing to a surge in interest. In June, Intrepid Travel launched a programme dedicated to rail travel featuring 40 trips, including three new itineraries – among them a Trans-Mongolian Railway Adventure and a 10-day Paris to Rome by Rail tour, which takes passengers on the Gotthard Panorama Express through Switzerland. Elsewhere, Railbookers added South America, expanded into Vietnam and Laos and reintroduced New Zealand to its portfolio. Rail Discoveries was absorbed into the Great Rail
Journeys brand in a bid to streamline operations and offer a wider range of itineraries.
