Special awards honour those who go the extra mile to help the industry, the community and their customers. Here’s what our judges look for…

The five special awards at the Globes recognise the standout individuals and businesses that showcase the very best of what the travel industry is all about. Perhaps they go above and beyond for colleagues in a time of need, work tirelessly to further a worthy cause or are passionate about ensuring travel is accessible to all.

People and businesses can nominate themselves or

their colleagues for these categories (with the exception of the Outstanding Achievement Award). Our expert judges are ready to pore over the entries and interview the shortlisted candidates to ensure the accolades go to the worthiest winners. The special awards for the Globes 2025 are:

Travel for All With travel brands taking huge steps to make their product truly inclusive and accessible in recent years, this award, now in its second year, seeks to recognise a travel company selling through trade channels that has gone to great lengths to ensure its product can be enjoyed by all travellers, including those who may be under-served on the basis of identity or disability.

shown a dedication to environmentally friendly operations and have inspired others to follow suit. The Travel Corporation won the award in 2024.

Kelly Jackson, managing director EMEA at TTC Tour Brands, said: “This award is a testament to everything we’ve worked towards. Every one of our more than 40 brands is invested in reaching net zero by 2050.”

Employer of the Year This award recognises employers that foster a positive and supportive company culture. Judges will scrutinise the shortlist for companies that invest in staff wellbeing, progression and retention, and analyse their impact on business performance. Mark Duguid, managing director of 2024 winner Kuoni, said: “There were some strong contenders, which makes this win even more satisfying. We recently conducted an engagement survey among our staff which revealed that 97% of employees are proud to work for us.”

Unsung Hero Award Travel companies rely on individuals who look out for those around them – whether that’s supporting their colleagues, being a pillar of their local community or taking part in a charity fundraiser. Matt Nixon, director of 52 Degrees North Travel, took the gong last year after doing a 62-mile ultra- marathon to raise funds for mental health charity Mind. He said: “It means a hell of a lot. If I can do it, someone else can.”

Sustainable Future Award Sustainability isn’t just a 21st-century buzzword – it’s a serious commitment to preserving our planet and its people. This award honours travel companies that have

Outstanding Achievement Award This accolade is our way of honouring those whose contribution to travel truly stands out. Previous years have seen long-serving industry leaders lift the trophy, including Sunvil and former Abta chairman Noel Josephides, Clia UK and Ireland managing director Andy Harmer and Jet2.com and Jet2holidays chief executive Steve Heapy. In 2024, Dame Irene Hays picked up the award for

her role in forging Hays Travel into the UK’s largest travel agency and her advocacy of apprenticeships. She said: “I’d attribute this award to anyone who has helped young people to succeed. We’ve gone through some incredibly difficult challenges, but the way we’ve created opportunities for young people to work in the industry is fantastic.” Selected by a panel of industry experts, this award will be announced on the night.
