Long-Haul


Asia, the Caribbean and Central America are among the destinations du jour as demand for long-haul booms


Despite the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, demand for long-haul is showing no signs of slowing down, and operators are catering for this by expanding their programmes to ever-more adventurous destinations.


Tui Group announced plans to grow its global hotel portfolio to 600 properties across its 12 brands, with a particular focus on Asia. Tui Blue made its debut in China and Malaysia in September, with three hotel openings in the former and one in the latter, and more hotels planned for Bangkok and Bali. Tui is also making its mark across Africa, with eight new properties across The Gambia, Senegal, Tanzania, Kenya and Cape Verde in the works. The company also chose Zanzibar as the location to launch new brand The Mora, taking over the former Emerald Zanzibar in the summer.

Longer campaign was Prestige Travel, which this month (November) ran its inaugural fam trip to Australia, showcasing South Australia and the Northern Territory. Gold Medal was also set to host an educational taking agents to many of the country’s hotspots in November, and to incentivise new bookings, offered the chance to win a £4,000 holiday to Australia as part of the launch of its 2024- 25 Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific programme.
