EDITOR’S NOTE
Here, there and everywhere “
There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be,” our cover stars The Beatles sang in 1967. Poignant, but not a lot of comfort when
you’re rushing through ExCeL during World Travel Market London trying desperately to find where your 10am meeting is taking place – the place you’re actually meant to be. It can be a chaotic time, and staying on top of who’s doing what, where, can be tricky. And so we have once again created a comprehensive preview of WTM London featuring news, events and stand details, and looking into why WTM senior director Simon Press is anticipating such an “incredibly busy” UK and Ireland section this year. I recently visited the Beatles’ hometown of
Liverpool to explore the newly-opened British Music Experience, preview the new Anfield Stadium Tour, and look around the impressive new hotel developments. Suffice to say, Liverpool’s got a lot going on, and while 2017 has been a year of openings and revamps, 2018 is going to be a 12-month- long cultural party celebrating 10 years since the city’s European Capital of Culture status. And everyone’s invited. Find out more about it on page 44.
And if, while at WTM, you find yourself a bit peckish or in need of a breather in between striking deals, networking and booking trips to Liverpool, come to the TravelGBI stand just outside The Fox pub by the ExCeL entrance for a coffee and a bacon sandwich on us. You’ll also be able to submit a business card and be in with a chance of winning our extra special prize – details of which can be found on the back page. Good luck!
