Liverpool’s Everyman unveils spring season
The Everyman in Liverpool will return to a repertory company format next spring as 14 actors will perform four shows between March and July 2018. The season opens with Lerner and
Loewe’s musical Paint Your Wagon, followed by an adaptation of Anthony Burgess’ dystopian novel A Clockwork Orange; a contemporary production of Shakespeare’s Othello; and a re-imagining of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. The plays follow the launch in 2017 of
the repertory format at the theatre.

Lichtenstein exhibition opens at Tate Liverpool
Tate Liverpool is showing works by the renowned American pop artist Roy Lichtenstein (1923–1997). On display until June 17, 2018, the Roy Lichtenstein In Focus exhibition includes major paintings such as In the Car (pictured) and provides a rare opportunity to see a substantial collection of Lichtenstein’s work in the north of England. It includes various works by the artist known for his paintings based on comic strips, advertising imagery, and adaptations of works by other artists. w To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Tate Liverpool in 2018, the gallery will present an exhibition of 30 artists’ works from the Tate collection curated and conceived by Ken Simons – the art handling manager who has been at the Albert Dock gallery since 1988. Ken’s Show: Exploring the Unseen (April 2-June 17) will include some of Simons’ favourite artworks such as Light Red Over Black by Mark Rothko;

Bluecoat unveils new exhibition for 300th anniversary
The final exhibition in a programme celebrating the tercentenary of Bluecoat, the UK’s oldest arts centre, will run until March 25, 2018. Called In the Peaceful
Dome, it takes the idea of Bluecoat as a continually evolving building – from charity school to the UK’s first arts centre.

Epstein’s Genesis, previously exhibited at Bluecoat in 1931 when almost 50,000 visitors paid sixpence each to see the controversial sculpture (inset). Manchester’s Winter Wonderland Christmas attraction will open its doors on December 9, transforming the EventCity venue in to a seasonal spectacular featuring more than 50 family rides and attractions. The experience will include Rainbow duo Zippy and George and a Christmas Circus giving daily performances. There is also an opportunity for visitors to try out their own circus skills in special workshops on site.
