w Haven boss moves to new role with Parkdean Resorts
Mark Harper has joined Parkdean Resorts in the newly-created role of chief operating officer, responsible
for the operations team across the business, which has 73 parks. He was most recently joint managing director of Haven, owned by the Bourne Leisure Group. He spent 16 years at Bourne Leisure, including previous roles as operations director and
head of retail operations.

England’s Historic Cities consortium has secured £1 million from the Discover England Fund for a new project encouraging more US visitors to explore regional England. Called ‘The Collection’, it aims
to bring history to life with augmented reality, and will feature itineraries that link the cities by rail, making it easy to book a multi-centre trip. Delivered through the historic
cities app, it will act as a central point for local information that highlights places to eat and stay alongside trips and travel options. The group will be at World
Travel Market London, on the UKinbound stand (UKI300),

to talk to potential partners about the project. England’s Historic Cities are:

VisitBritain and BBC StoryWorks launch films in North America
Travellers in North America will be inspired to explore Britain with the release of four short commercial films by VisitBritain and BBC StoryWorks. The four two-minute documentary-style films, created by BBC StoryWorks are described as “a modern take” on Britain’s landscapes, fashion, culture and history. w VisitBritain/VisitEngland statistics show economic benefits of investment
An extra £872 million in visitor spending was generated across the UK in the past year thanks to work by VisitBritain/VisitEngland. Its figures show that for
every pound invested in the organisation, £20 of additional visitor spend was generated for the economy. From January to July 2017,
there were a record 23.1 million overseas visits to the UK, up 8% year-on-year, with visitors spending £13.3 billion, up 9%. VisitBritain forecasts that
overseas visits to the UK will increase 6% to 39.7 million in 2017 with spending up 14% to £25.7 billion by the end of
this year.
