CELEBRITY INTERVIEW

Chrissy Teigen

The model, TV personality and author tells Aspire about her love of Bali and Lake Como, as she shares memories of her travels with husband John Legend and their children

Q. What’s the most special travel destination for you? It has to be Lake Como. We have had the most amazing vacations there and it is a place that makes you feel special from the moment you arrive. There is the serenity of the lake, never too much going on, and beautiful little villages scattered around offering incredible places to eat and stunning mountain scenery. I have travelled a lot and there is nothing that offers quite so many experiences as Lake Como.

Q. So much so that you decided to get married there… Yes, and of course that just adds to the experience of it all. And that is really the point of travel – you are using a place and a time to build your own experiences, and

Travel releases us physically and mentally from all the

that is a wonderful feeling. Now we can take our extended family there and create dreams for them too. We have spent a lot of time around Cernobbio and Como itself and some of the Italian cuisine is the best I have ever had. That’s the one thing that puts it ahead of the Maldives, which is our other favourite. I admire the fact Italian cooking relies on a few good basics – pasta, meat, fish – but what they do with that and how it is evolved into incredible dishes is just amazing.

Q. What else attracts you to a place? The people and the architecture are very important. Mostly when we go away we want to relax, but you need to embed yourself in everything that’s around you, and that must be the buildings and those who live in them.
