Cobots demos highlight possibilities


Borrowing one of Mitsubishi Electric Automation Systems UK’s MELFA Assista collaborative robots (cobots), Design & Automation Solutions trained engineers to familiarise themselves with the cobot and pass this knowledge to customers. There will be a number of demonstrations to highlight the possibilities, but functionality is not limited to what can be seen at the show. Teams can tool and program the cobot for a multitude of applications, tailored to automation need. Although a lot of the work is technically advanced and challenging, the company also gets involved in straightforward engineering. Recent projects include heavy-duty scissor lift tables with cross slides and the added implementation of a tooled Grimm linear to a cap feeding system for a UK-based biotech automation company. There has also been a project for a major brand to provide a high-performance powered gantry


Investment in PCB assembly enhances services

The “Start to Finish” sub- contracting machining service goes from initial CAD drawings to a broad range of finishing options (also on display). The machine shop includes five-axis milling, twin spindle lathes and a router.

Grab a coffee, some cake and discuss CEM

Digital position indicators save time


Manufacturer and supplier of standard machine components, Elesa, has added modular gear racks and spur gears, traditionally used for assembly equipment, production workstations, instrumentation, inspection systems or other situations where quick linear movement is required. Direct dial digital position indicators with an electronic mechanism for easy set up and readout, coupled with the wireless spindle positioning system will be showcased. The wireless connected profile controller enables fast and reliable machine set up, displaying the initial set up values on each of up to 36 electronic position indicators. The operator can choose the appropriate menu then quickly re-set each spindle to its correct start position and the machine is “good to go”. This saves time and takes out much of the possibility of human error.


Pressure transmitters pass hydrogen test


Pressure transducers and transmitters for the aerospace, defence, oil and gas, sub-sea, medical, automotive, marine, process and general industrial markets are manufactured by ESI Technology. Recent innovations that will be highlighted at this year’s show include live demonstrations of the GS4400 pressure transmitter with RS-485 interface. This range also includes a high pressure and sub-sea variant.


There is a wide range of levelling feet, many in stainless steel for heavy duty application and special designs with vibration damping. The company’s hygienic levelling feet (EHEDG-certified) with mounting holes provide rugged adjustable equipment mounting and reduce cleaning which can be up to 25% of the production time. As well as more time for production, there is less use of resources such as fresh water, energy and cleaning agents, less wastewater to process, and so lower total costs.
