Robotic systems apply foam seals


Six-axis robot systems, combined with Robafoam’s foam application technology, provide a contract gasketing service, applying foam seals to parts. The flexible systems apply to anything from one-off prototypes to high volume production quantities. The equipment can adjust the hardness of the foam being applied by controlling the ratio of material to air to generate the closed- cell bubble structure. Changing robot speeds and flow rates allows the company to vary bead width from 1.5 to 20mm and above. A heat curing option rapidly cures the material (at 80ºC) within two to eight minutes.


The company also manufactures 1K foam application systems to apply 3D foam seals that can be incorporated within a customer’s production line. In addition to manufacturing and integrating equipment, it also offers a technical service to support sealing demands from concept design to full production integration. The service is available for NVH requirements, bonding, potting and encapsulation and across industry sectors for high level IP-rated seals.

Additive manufacturing supports inventive design

Injection moulding extends to medical and automotive


Since starting injection moulding in 1956, Rutland Plastics has grown but is still a family business, based in Oakham in Rutland. It offers a range of plastic injection moulding services and has over 30 moulding machines on-site ranging from 50 to 1700t. This range provides the ability to produce mouldings from 1g to 48kg and up to 1.5m in size.
