The planning for this year’s festival has occurred with the pandemic rising and falling around us. It would have been our twentieth year but we have had to settle for 19th this time following last year’s cancellation, which was of course unavoidable but sad nevertheless.


We have worried for all our contacts in the food, wine and hospitality business and are relieved to see many coming back and at the time of writing, it is a joy to go out to our excellent local restaurants again, although finding staff has been a big challenge understandably.


Our food festival team of committee volunteers has pressed on with plans and there are some wonderful guests coming again this year and some great new faces. The Food Matters talks have a fantastic line-up now over 2 days on Saturday and Sunday including some big names to inform and inspire us.


We have a wide range of exhibitors coming over the three days so don’t miss out on the fabulous foods and drinks. Many people do some Christmas shopping over the food festival weekend and our new merchandise, courtesy of Simon Drew will be in a new location so please look out for it again.

The Market Square will be buzzing as usual with goodies and some live music so ensure you take that in too during your visit but don’t miss the Festival Bar this year, kindly supplied by major sponsors Salcombe Gin again. It has great river views and a welcoming vibe and the drinks are delicious too. You will find me there.

Charlotte Pike has been a long time friend of the festival and is generously providing workshops for us in the Royal Avenue Gardens where you will also find our Demonstration Tent with a great programme of chef demos from famous names and


I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors and festival friends for their ongoing support and friendship. We certainly could not do it without you. Dartmouth Food Festival is a “not for profit” organisation and any spare cash can go on our Children’s day and community lunch so nothing is wasted.


We are committed to reducing plastic and to addressing sustainability in our beautiful coastal town as usual this year so please help where you can. We will also have any necessary COVID precautions in place.
