17 177th
24, 25, 26 & 27 AUGUST 2022 F
ollowing our return last year, your Regatta committee have been hard at work building a programme for you this year to deliver the
177th Regatta, an event that is very much part of our town and local community. Our Family Fun Day has
evolved this year into the Family Fun Weekend. Starting on Saturday 20th August, two whole days of activities for the whole family. With an Inflatable Helter Skelter and Toddler Jungle Activity Bouncy Castle, Children’s craft workshop and a Regatta favourite, Professor Bumble with his Circus Skills workshop. We have new for 2022, a round of Crazy Golf as well as code cracking, puzzle solving and beat the buzzer with Escape HQ and a fabulous Interactive exhibition from the Seal Project including life size skeleton and models. Do you have Dartmouth’s
Top Dog? Enter our Dog Show and find out! Fun Fitness Aerobics and a Dance workshop with Urbanflow Street Dance to get you on your feet and our Silent Disco returns once more… quietly. The Dartington Morris Men return and you’ll be amazed with up close magic among the crowd from Magician Ozzy D, a member of the Magic Circle. The weekend
concludes with Dartmouth’s first FIRE WALK! Scott Bell, who holds the World Record for the ‘Greatest Firewalking distance’ will be leading a group to walk the glowing embers to raise money for the walkers’ nominated charity on Sunday evening 21st August. All our walkers will walk away with a photograph and T-Shirt to mark the occasion. Check out the website for details and to register to take part. As always the our Information Hut will be the place to go to for every update, to collect your entry form
for Spot The Oddity and to purchase your copy of the 177th Regatta Programme. This year’s programme has a collectable piece of artwork by local artist Paul Barclay that can be removed and kept from the front cover to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee of our Royal Patron, the Queen. The Swimming Gala this
year has relocated to the Indoor Pool at the Fusion Leisure Centre. Entries can now be made on our website for the rowing and sailing competitions and don’t forget our Crabbing Competition. The Regatta favourites, Ice-cream Eating Competition and Pavement Artist Competition return with some great prizes up for grabs. If you are feeling more energetic, register for the Fun Run or the Road Race. The Shopping Parade is back with many local businesses showcasing the best of Devon and don’t forget the Makers’ Market in the Market Square. We are hoping to
see a flypast by one of the British Memorial Flight’s Spitfires this
year and have a visiting RN Ship. We have live music each evening in the bandstand until 10pm. All in all, something for everyone. As always we work closely with our colleagues at
Dartmouth Town Council to put on a safe, successful and sustainable 177th Port of Dartmouth Regatta. Dartmouth Town Council continue to support the Regatta this year alongside our Major Platinum Sponsors - Salcombe Gin and Bakers Estates; our Gold Sponsors - Original Cottages and Bays Brewery behind the Bar! We have our local Dartmouth businesses on board
as Town Sponsors who also make this event happen by continuing to support us each year.. and, in return this year for a fabulous, highly sought after, window sticker! … by Laura Campbell
