New Editor for LUBE Media

The UKLA welcomes Nicky Thomas who joins the Association as Media Editor for Lube magazine. Nicky takes over the reins from Suzy Jarman who has worked tirelessly as Editor over the past 8 years and has amongst her many achievements spearheaded Lube Library.

Nicky spent the last 25 years gaining a wide range of experience in various sectors. Of particular interest is her experience in public relations and the aviation industry. Whilst Nicky has not previously worked in the oil and lubrication industry, she is a pilot, a motorcyclist and a (fast) car driver so has some appreciation of the importance of oils, greases and fluids!

“This is an exciting and challenging role and I am delighted to take it on. Suzy Jarman and Laurie McHale (Media Assistant) have worked extremely hard to bequeath Lube magazine the respected profile it receives today. I have been given a detailed hand-over by Suzy who will be a very hard act to follow. I am thankful to be able to work alongside Laurie on the day to day running of the magazine. Laurie is a font of knowledge and I am

sure will put me right when I wonder off track! Lube is seen as ‘the Voice of the Industry’ and Suzy passes me the baton leaving Lube magazine in a very strong position. I look forward to working with and learning from the dedicated team of professionals at the UKLA, its members, and with the suppliers of features and articles to the magazine.”

Nicky has carried out projects throughout Europe, The Middle East and Asia building up relationships and generating enthusiasm. She brings to Lube magazine a creative flair, a well organised approach and extensive work experience. She is an independent thinker and has an exceptional track record in business development. It is with these skills that Nicky wants to not only build on Lube’s current success but also to work together with subscribers and advertisers to be part of their development and prosperity.

On her appointment Nicky commented “I consider myself very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to join this well established Association at an interesting time historically. The global challenges are numerous and increasing. There is much speculation about the

changes going on around the world which could potentially affect us all. I am motivated by people who always inspire me and I look forward to building on existing relationships as well as making new ones with colleagues from this International arena. In the words of Kapil Dev, one of the greatest cricketers of all times ¬‘Irrespective of any political party, I am a supporter of good people who want to do something for the society.’ The lubrication ‘society’ is one I am honoured to be joining.”

When Nicky is not working she likes to spend time with her family and friends, she enjoys cooking, walking and flying her microlight aircraft.
