INTRODUCTION

The Bookseller Buyer’s Guide Non-Fiction Spring/Summer 2025

A preview of new titles published between February 2025–July 2025

Using the Buyer’s Guides

The titles listed in the Spring/Summer 2025 Buyer’s Guide are divided into categories, with sub-divisions according to format and age range where appropriate. Within each category, the entries are listed under the publishers’ imprints, which have been ordered alphabetically. All the books included

were submitted by publishers via the online database (Bookseller BuyersGuide.co.uk). Regardless of size, publishers were restricted to submitting 10 titles and/or series per category/imprint, and given a 30-word limit to describe each title. If a title is an audiobook or has an audio edition, it is stated in the title’s metadata. Other formats are as

follows: hb (hardback); pb (paperback); tpb (trade paperback); pbo (paperback original); mmpb (mass-market paperback); eb (e-book).

I

n The Bookseller’s recent Review of 2024 series, we have noted that the previous 12 months was not the best for Non-Fiction, capped by a poor Christmas run-in with many of the big autumn releases not hitting hoped-for heights. But look for Non-Fiction to rebound in 2025, as I believe readers will turn to fact-checked, responsibly sourced history, reportage and science titles as an antidote to our post-truth world that has been ramped up of late by CEOs of social media platforms and the second Trump administration. In fact, a few titles out this spring directly address this climate, including Adam Kucharski’s Proof. Of course, Non-Fiction entertains as well as informs,

and no doubt the less serious end of the market will drive sales. I am really looking forward to comedian and podcaster Adam Buxton’s take on Nineties and Noughties TV, I Love You, Byeee. And though this may be a bit too book industry “inside baseball”, there are a trio of interesting outings for the trade professional in your life:

serial publishing house founder Anthony Cheetham’s A Life in Fifty Books, Paul Dimond’s collection of 150 years of Batsford jackets, The Book Cover, and Anna Nyburg’s celebration of Thames & Hudson’s 75th anniversary, The Art of the Book.
