Many of their employees live across the border in Spain and, depending on the deal the UK leaves the EU with, their daily commute could get a lot more complicated and difficult. So, how do Llufrio and De Jesus feel about the impending Brexit situation and what plans are they putting in place to deal with the impact? “The big issue at the moment for us – and everyone in the UK – is the unknown,” Llufrio explains. “We don’t know what’s going to happen with Brexit, so we can’t really plan for anything. One option for us might be to open up a separate store in Spain to take delivery of everything. But, until we know for sure what Brexit actually means, we can’t do anything about it.


“One thing we do know is that, although we’re a


very small country, we’re very, very resilient. We’ve been living with border controls for many years, so, you know, throw whatever you want at us, we’ll find a way over it, round it or under it.”


Where it all began


Nothing seems to faze Llufrio and that’s perhaps because he’s been in the industry since 1987, when he set up a builders merchant business – Interbuild – with his cousin. De Jesus joined the Interbuild business in 1993 to head up its kitchen division. “I’ve always been interested in architecture and design and when an opportunity to work with Ray and his cousin at Interbuild came up, I jumped at the chance,” explains De Jesus. “Gibraltar was
