ecoming a business owner is daunting enough and you may think that running a franchise can make life even harder, but in fact the opposite is true. There are huge benefits to being part of a national network of retailers, so let’s look at how to get started when considering becoming a franchisee.

B Introductory meeting

It all starts with you. A Kütchenhaus sales and operations manager, like Jake Colwill, will meet for a chat over a coffee and get to know you. In these preliminary discussions you’ll go through the steps for the first year’s trading. You’ll talk about what you’ll need to bring to the table initially. Jake explains: “You’ll need to have some capital for year one start-up costs. This is to get to the point of opening your doors – paying your preliminary costs and setting up the retail space. Support and due diligence Once your feet are under the Kütchenhaus table, a member of the team will work with you to write a business plan. This is an important step as it works out how to make your new business viable in your chosen location. Through Kütchenhaus’s advice and support, you can get help with negotiating terms on your showroom premises, understanding financial forecasts, and advice on customer demographics. Prior to launching you’ll go through a comprehensive training programme where you’ll get an introduction to Kütchenhaus, the Nobilia product, and how to run each aspect of your business. “Part of the training includes time spent shadowing an existing franchise,” says sales and operations manager Kam Bharadwa. “This is tailored to the individual’s existing skillset. You already have the expertise in the kitchen industry but you’ll need to know how our internal systems work to really get the most from your franchise business.”
