Vacuum drainage is the new gold standard


There is growing concern in the UK, where over half of NHS hospitals have reported sewage leaks, according to Healthcare Estates exhibitor Otter Vacuum. The company says: “Vacuum


drainage is not a new untried solution; it doesn’t disrupt normal routine hospital functionality. Several vacuum drainage systems have been in service at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Oncology, MRI, and HOT waste units, where it improved hygiene, reduced installation disruption, and avoided extensive groundworks. “Vacuum drainage is equally well suited as a complementary modern technology, as noted in NETB 2024/3 for inclusion in the New Hospital Programme; fitting seamlessly into the RIBA project planning process.”
