18 SUPPLIERS’ DAY

World of Chemistry examines global sourcing and trends with a kick-off presentation by Mintel and will share forecasts and developments from specific regions including Latin and South America, Europe, as well as Asia. The World of Chemistry presentations aim to provide attendees at Suppliers’ Day with a global perspective of the personal care industry, delivering the latest information from the key international marketplaces in this dynamic industry. This year, attendees can also look

forward to presentations from leading experts across active ingredients and regulations with speakers from institutions such as the IFSCC alongside representatives from independent raw materials manufacturers, technology suppliers and research companies. At the time of going to press, not all the presenters had been confirmed, but the program is scheduled to start at 0915 on the morning of the 5 May, the first day of Suppliers’ Day.

Revolutionary networking and show floor experiences, and educating the next generation of chemists

The popular Future Chemists Workshop (FCW) is now a national event attracting chapter participation from across the country. FCW will provide invited University students insight on how to be a Cosmetic Chemist through a challenge- based tutorial and practical workshop. Mentor/Mentee Exchange Program that launched at Suppliers’ Day 2019 will return and is helping to bridge connections between both young and experienced professionals in the beauty and personal care industry. The program fosters interaction between students, grad students, junior chemists and senior executives and also provides reverse mentorship opportunities. Celebrate the industry, renew partnerships, create new ones and be there when the winner is announced for the NYSCC sponsored CEW Supplier’s Award: Ingredients & Formulation at the NYSCC Industry Awards Night on May 5. This night is truly a celebration of important drivers of innovation that is the revolutionary spirit of Suppliers’ Day.

Pre and Post Suppliers’ Day Learning from SCC and ICMAD Kicking off ‘Revolutionary Disruptors’ will be three SCC CEP Pre-Show Courses on May 4 that include full-day programs on Sustainable Cosmetic Product Development, Essential Cosmetic Raw Materials, and Patents: A Practical Introduction.

The ICMAD FDA Cosmetics Regulations PERSONAL CARE NORTH AMERICA Agilent. March 2020

Workshop will take place at the Javits Center on May 7 and provides cosmetic and personal care industry professionals with the necessary regulatory and safety updates. Government representatives, industry experts and ICMAD officials will inform attendees about sector updates including expert assessments on the latest issues that have captured the attention of consumers, regulators and the industry. Exhibitor highlights Abich is a dynamic CRO, offering R&D clinical and analytical services for third parties, mainly focused on medical devices, cosmetics and drugs. Abich’s cell biology division developed several in vitro safety testing protocols according to OECD methods, as an alternative to animal testing, using specific cell lines or advanced models such as in vitro-reconstructed human tissue.

The analytical chemistry division developed specific protocols and analyses for quality controls on finished products or raw materials over the years. The division can also provide accurate analyses using advanced systems such as HPLC, Ultra-HPLC, GC-MS and ICP-OES. The microbiology division provides services for the quantification, search and identification of specific microorganisms, challenge tests, analyses for the evaluation of anti-microbial efficacy and mutagenesis assays.

Actichem have been producing natural active ingredients from French vineyards for over 20 years. Their products are made of resveratrol monomers and oligomers extracted from grapevine shoots and roots. During NYSCC Suppliers’ Day, they will launch on the US market Resveratrox SD, a new ingredient in their Resveratrox range, using a new manufacturing process for this new active ingredient which is water soluble making it easy to formulate. It also has a low incidence on the color of formulations. Efficacy tests have proven various beauty benefits of their Resveratrox range: particularly efficient anti-pollution properties (protection against pollutant- induced AHR, Nrf2 activation and MT-1H induction) and a stronger antioxidant activity than resveratrol in keratinocytes at

low doses (1µg/ml). Clinical studies on the Resveratrox range have also shown a reduction of wrinkle depth and rejuvenating properties.

Advonex International (booth 1459) and Stepan Company (booth 1025) work together to develop sustainable personal care products

The two companies are updating classic cosmetics and personal care products with new, plant-based ingredients that provide the sustainability characteristics consumers want. The Modern Vintage Collection includes: Modern Vintage Cold Cream uses 100% natural emollients, including Stepan’s Wecobee M, and Advonex’s plant-based alternatives Entrada-EML and Entrada-GL. Entrada Wax 68X, boosting bio-based content to 95%. Modern Vintage Shaving Soap

modernizes historic shaving soaps using mild cleansers such as Stepan’s Steol CS- 230 and Lathanol LAL that produce copious and rich lather and features Entrada DFL-77 from Advonex for a smoother shave. Modern Vintage Rouge combines natural oils and waxes with plant-based emollients to create a vegan formula that is 99.6% naturally derived. This formula features Stepan’s Neobee M-5 Cosmetic, a natural emollient that helps hydrate the skin upon application, and Advonex’s Entrada DFL-82 and Entrada EML. Complex samples require accurate,

robust and flexible instruments and Agilent’s 7890B GC and 5977 GC/MS have been shown to consistently and cost- effectively deliver sensitive detection of trace compounds common to most natural products. In addition, sophisticated software tools ensure accurate and reliable analysis of highly complex samples and fast, cost-effective product testing is enabled with the 1290 Infinity HPLC System. Agilent’s 7700 ICP-MS System provides trace-level metals detection while accurate, stable and sensitive LC/MS Systems excel in the analysis of additives, allergens and impurities. The company also offer a range of tools and reporting solutions designed with global standards in mind. The Spanish CRO Bionos Biotech, focused on efficacy testing, will introduce its new innovative technologies developed to assess clinical efficacy in human volunteers at Suppliers’ Day New York 2020.
