Azelis buys in Thailand
Distribution giant Azelis has made another acquisition in the form of a majority stake in Catalite. Founded in 2015, Catalite is a distributor of speciality chemicals in the personal care, home care and other market segments in Thailand.
The deal is expected
to close within Q1, subject to closing conditions. CEO Udomlak Kootiratrakarn and COO Vaivit Arkaresvimun will continued to lead the business and all 49 employees will transfer to Azelis.
“With an attractive
portfolio of products from several key principals, Catalite serves a large, growing customer base from its site in Bangkok, providing the Group a solid platform to accelerate its growth in the domestic market, and the wider Asia Pacific region,” Azelis said.
Herbal beauty market to grow

The Jungbunzlauer Group has announced that Bruno Tremblay will be its CEO from 1 May. Tom Knutzen is to retire after nearly ten years in the role, although he will remain a board member. Tremblay has spent most of his career in what is now Bayer CropScience. Since 2018, he has been based in Basel, Switzerland, as EVP of the EMEA region, accountable for a business with $4 billion in sales and 6,000 staff.
New BRB facility Petronas Chemicals Group (PCG) operation BRB International has officially opened an 8,000 tonnes/ year GMP blending facility in the vicinity of PCG’s petrochemical complex in Gebeng, Malaysia. The facility will produce cosmetic grade silicone gum blend, silicone EMPOL emulsion and amino- silicone emulsion for the Asia- Pacific and Middle East/Africa regions, among other things. It has ISO 22000, HACCP, MeSTI, Halal and Kosher certificates.
Ban is in force The Humane Cosmetics Act came into force on 1 January in the US state of Virginia, preventing cosmetics manufacturers from conducting or contracting for cosmetic animal testing there. It also bans the sale of cosmetics tested on animals from 1 July. Virginia is the fourth US state to enact such a ban since 2018, following California, Nevada and Illinois.
