Mohegan Casinos Generate $5.2bn


Mohegan has announced that its North America properties generated a total of $5.2bn in local economic activity over a one-year period.


Te $5.2bn in economic activity includes the creation of nearly 35,000 total jobs. More than $2.7bn in revenues have been generated onsite and off-property.

Mohegan has announced that its North America properties generated a total of $5.2bn in local economic activity over a one-year period, according to the brand’s first-ever Economic Impact Report.


Analysing data for 2019 (the most recent representative year), the report details Mohegan’s significant, positive impact on employment, household income, direct visitor spending, as well as state and local tax support. Mohegan commissioned Oxford Economics, the world’s foremost independent economic advisory firm, to conduct the study.


Te analysis utilised a widely recognised approach to determining economic impact and examined all Mohegan properties in operation in 2019: Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut; Mohegan Sun Pocono in Wilkes- Barre; ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, Washington; Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City, New Jersey; and Casino Niagara in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Nebraska Commission approves Fonner Park’s temporary casino

Te Nebraska Racing & Gaming Commission has approved Fonner Park’s plans for a temporary casino in the concourse of Fonner Park racetrack while the permeant Grand Island Casino is built. Te temporary venue will offer 300 slot machines, kiosks for horse betting, simulcasting, a small area with a snack bar, and Elite Casino’s Resort Club. Table games including blackjack, craps and roulette will be added in 2023.

CANADA – Since closing for more than two years due to the pandemic and damage from Hurricane Laura, the former Isle of Capri Lake Charles will officially come ashore in the brand-new land-based Horseshoe Lake Charles on December 12.


The all-new 60,000sq.ft property will bring the Horseshoe brand to southwest Louisiana, showcasing the gambling experience for guests, including new rooms, restaurants and a variety of entertainment.


The new property boasts nearly 1,000 slots and table games, as well as an official WSOP Poker Room, an all-new Caesars Sportsbook and 253 hotel rooms designed with inspiration from local scenery. In addition to a wide palette of food and beverage outlets that will be available on day one, Horseshoe Lake Charles will bring multi-Michelin- starred chef Gordon Ramsay to the Pelican State with the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak in mid- 2023. The doors to Horseshoe Lake Charles will open for the first time at noon on 12 December, pending Louisiana Gaming Control Board approval.
