cant dryers in plastics processing operations. The CARD R system is said to
provide 90% energy utilisation due to its combination of compressed air dryer with a compressor and integrat- ed heat exchanger. The system works by recovering energy from the compressor and using it to heat the drying air. FarragTech says that for resins that are dried at 80°C or less – such as PA or ABS – no additional heat input is required. Compressed air requirements are also reduced; the company claims to about 30% of that of a standard compressed air dryer. According to FarragTech, the CARD R system will deliver a typical 1kW energy saving on a 40 litre capacity drying hopper compared to a simple dehumidification unit of the same capacity.

Feddem will unveil its pultrusion line concept for production of long fibre reinforced thermo- plastic (LFTs) granulate at the show. Based on the ICX (inte- grated Compounding and Extru- sion) technology introduced at the K show last year, the line features the company’s own- developed tensioner, impreg- nating die and take off. It says the system is designed for cost effective production of produce high quality LFT materials without sacrificing flexibility. The company, part of KD
Feddersen group, will also show its FED 52 MTS extruder configured for manufacturing
high-quality carbon fibre reinforced plastic compounds. Like other machines in the MTS model series, Feddem says the extruder is customisable and versatile, allowing it to tackle a broad range of applications and a variety of compounding jobs.
