DSM will display its full range of engineering materials for automotive, electronics and water management applications but will place a particular focus on its recently expanded ForTii portfolio of polyamides (PA) and polyphthalamides (PPA). ELIX Polymers will present its portfolio of ABS and ABS blend materials, including low emission and low odour, high heat, platable and food contact grades. The company will also introduce its new anti-squeak ABS and PC/ABS grades for automo- tive interior applications. Intended for use where parts are in sliding contact with other plastics, leathers and PVC foils, the new grades have been tested at several automotive OEMs according to VDA230-206 and have scored a result of 1 (VDA230-206 uses a 10-point scale where 1 is the lowest squeak risk). The anti-squeak products use standard ABS,

Gabriel-Chemie will launch its Pure option for organoleptically tested masterbatches. Devel- oped for applications that are highly susceptible to flavour tainting, such as bottled mineral water, Pure applies two industry- standard testing methods – gas


chromatography and organoleptic evaluation – to incoming raw materials and outgoing masterbatch- es. Customers receive a full set of documentation with transparent test data. Gabriel Chemie’s in-house gas chromatography equipment is used to detect any NIAS (non-inten- tionally added substances) impurities that may lead to off-tastes. Where any unknown substances are detected, the company works with the external testing organisation Fraunhofer IVV to identify them and, if necessary, block their use. Instrument- ed testing is supported by blind flavour tainting tests carried out by a tasting panel. In addition, the company will show its latest laser marking masterbatches. These include grades that allow marking of plastic parts with a metallic finish and a new additive technology that turns transpar- ent when marked by the laser. � www.gabriel-chemie.com
