LyondellBasell grows Chinese compounding operations


LyondellBasell has started up a new 20,000 tonnes/ year PP compounding plant at Dalian in China, its third in the country.

strategically located in the country’s regional automo- tive sector, which is home to major automotive names including BMW, Daimler, GM,

Imerys acquires Regain


Imerys’s Performance Additives division has acquired Regain Polymers, a major UK plastics recycler, and will combine the newly acquired firm with its existing ImerPlast waste polyolefin compati- bilisation business. The move makes the minerals giant one of Europe’s largest polyolefin recyclers. “Both companies have

BASF working on UV mapping


BASF has partnered with the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and NASA Goddard Space Flight Centre to develop a new tool to help maximise the service life of plastic products by precisely matching plastic additive additions to the predicted intensity of UV radiation in specific regions of the world. The company is working to optimise the dosage of its light stabilisers based on global maps of UV radiation levels developed by the two agencies, with the aim to create a final product perfectly adapted to the region where it will be used. The full global mapping database from DLR is currently available exclu- sively to BASF.
