RAC, “the effects observed were specific to the rat and have not been seen in scientific studies on any other species, including humans, as they relate to a mode of action that only occurs in rats. These effects in rats are only observed via inhalation at an expo- sure level many times higher than those encountered by workers on a daily basis. Most importantly, these effects are seen with all poorly soluble dusts and are not specific to TiO2

This ensures that a greater proportion of near infrared light is reflected when compared to a typical grade of titanium dioxide produced for pigmentary use – while also helping to maintain substantial hiding power and tinting strength.” The spectra of Altiris W400 pigment can boost the solar reflectance of white and light coloured plastics by as much as 25% compared to ordinary TiO2, the company says. “With greater heat resisting properties, plastics heat more slowly, reach lower maximum temperatures, show a smaller temperature difference through the substrate, and consequently experience lower temperature drops in the evening,” it claims. “Ultimately, that means less expansion and contrac- tion, less product warp, and exterior plastic products that will last longer, particularly in hot, sunny climates.” Russell Evans, Business Development Director at
