STEP 1: Fill a vase halfway with clean water and add flower food. Remove leaves from stems that fall below the water line. Trim 1 inch from the bottom of each stem on a diagonal.
Q: How far ahead should you buy fresh flowers? A: Flowers will be at their best whenever you buy them at the store; blooms are replenished twice a week to ensure quality and freshness. Look for open blooms if buying on the day and semi-open buds if buying a few days ahead.
Q: What fresh flowers are in season right now? A: Tulips, roses, lilies, daisies, mums, and asters have the most availability and look their best in early and mid-spring.
Q: What should you consider as you shop for flowers? A: Look for colors that complement each other and won’t blend into the walls or tablecloth. Plan a shorter, wider arrangement for your dining table so guests can see over it.
Q: What about flowers as gifts? A: Talk to our highly experienced store florists! They can put together custom arrangements and help you pick grab-and- go floral items.
Q: How do you keep flowers fresh at home? A: Recut the ends of stems before placing in water with the flower food (a packet included with your arrangement). Cutting the stems makes it easier for flowers to take in water and nutrients. Change the water every three days.

STEP 2: If using, add a few sprigs of green herbs or foliage, following the rim of the vase and crisscrossing the stems. Add smaller flowers in the same way, varying their height slightly.
3
STEP 3: Add larger blooms in and around the center, spacing them evenly and varying their height slightly. Adjust the flowers as needed, making sure blooms fit fairly loosely in the vase.
