Solutions Manufacturing Builds Greater Control with Cetec ERP

By Allyn Shunk S

olutions Manufacturing Inc., an elec- tronics manufacturing services provider based in Rockledge, Florida, has mod-

ernized its business systems to support high- mix, low- to medium-volume production. Serving aerospace, medical, and industrial customers, the company manages PCB as- sembly, box build, testing, and material man- agement across multiple SMT lines and in- spection processes. That operating model creates constant

variation in materials, assemblies, schedules, and customer requirements. As the business grew, its legacy enter- prise resource planning system became increasingly difficult to adapt.

Moving Beyond Workarounds Solutions Manufacturing had used

its previous ERP platform since the 1990s, modifying it over time while rely- ing on a separate quoting system. Al- though the arrangement functioned, dai- ly operations depended heavily on manu- al workarounds. Information was stored inconsis-

tently, often in unstructured text fields that could not be used directly for report- ing. Employees frequently exported and rebuilt data to check inventory, short- ages, part information, and work order status. Quoting, inventory, and produc- tion required repeated manual entry, while employees relied on institutional

knowledge to interpret system data. Part numbering created another source

of friction. Internal numbers duplicated man- ufacturer part numbers, complicating pur- chasing, inventory alignment, and bill of ma- terials management. The company concluded that the prob-

lem was not one missing function, but the ab- sence of a unified structure. It needed a sys- tem that would reduce manual maintenance, make BOM, inventory, and job data immedi-

ately usable, and connect quoting more di- rectly with production.

Selecting an Integrated Approach After evaluating between 20 and 30 ERP

platforms, Solutions Manufacturing chose Cetec ERP for manufacturing, purchasing, inventory, and financial management. It paired the system with CalcuQuote, a quot- ing and supply chain platform for electronics manufacturing services companies. The two integrated platforms support

the quote-to-cash process by allowing quote data, BOMs, and part information to move into operations without manual re- entry. Cetec ERP provides a shared source of information across engineering, pur- chasing, inventory, and production, while CalcuQuote supports front-end quoting and supply chain activity. The implementation also gave Solu-

tions Manufacturing greater control over item master data, substitute and alternate parts, and varying BOM requirements. Cetec ERP’s embedded Metabase business intelligence layer allows the company to query current operating data and create custom reports without exporting and re- structuring information elsewhere.

With Cetec ERP, Solutions Manufacturing has gained a system designed to grow with the business.

Restructuring the Data Data migration was the most de-

manding part of the transition. The lega- Continued on next page
