Not every religion can trace its origins back to one historical figure. Despite years of searching, historians have been unable to discover any single founding figure for Hinduism. It is now thought that a group of rishis (i.e. holy men) were responsible for spreading Hindu beliefs across the Indian subcontinent 4,000 years ago.
