Communities of Faith SECTION A The different kinds of religion
Generally speaking, a religion falls under one or other of the following headings: (a) monotheism; or (b) polytheism.
REMEMBER! Monotheism says that there is only one God.
God is the Supreme Being who created and sustains the universe.
If you accept monotheism you are called a monotheist. Christians, Jews and Muslims are all monotheists.
REMEMBER! Polytheism says that there is more than one god.
If you accept polytheism you are called a polytheist. Hindus are polytheists.
Buddhists disagree among themselves about God. Some Buddhists are polytheists. Other Buddhists do not believe in a God or gods of any kind.
