EMERY HALL, ONE OF THE CAMPUS’ OLDEST BUILDINGS, IS ONE OF THREE CENTRAL STATE STRUCTURES INCLUDED ON THE NATIONAL HISTORIC REGISTER.
Serving as a home to academic spaces then a women’s dormitory up until the 1970’s, Emery Hall sat vacant for decades. In 2012, Central State was awarded $2.5 million in federal and state grants to restore the exterior. Four years later, land-grant and capital fundings allowed for the restoration of the interior. Emery Hall is now home to the Land-Grant Extension office, and also serves as a special events center for the University. It was added to the National Historic Register in 2005, the third from Central State.
