SPOTLIGHT

a great atmosphere and a real buzz, especially as some of the tilers had met up for the first time face- to-face. The workshops themselves worked really well, retaining the crucial information and practical elements, whilst making sure all four were completed in the time structure allowed.”

Proving that there’s no greater recommendation than word of mouth, some of the tilers on tour attended thanks to the great things they had heard from one fellow tiler that had featured on Schlüter’s successful advertising campaign. Karl Wood, Owner of NYC Ceramics in Manchester, commented: “I had been recommended the workshops by fellow tiler, Andy Carroll, who had featured in the advertising campaign, yet finding the time to go down was proving difficult. However, after seeing a few of the guys on Twitter mention a roadtrip, I decided it was worth the journey, especially as it meant I could get some practical training

expectations and brought me right up to speed with the products. The whole group couldn’t praise Schlüter-Systems Ltd highly enough, not only for their workshops, but also on their care and hospitality in accommodating all our needs.”

“I began using Twitter to approach other tilers and the idea soon grew into a roadtrip.”

Jamie Campbell of JC Tiling, Fife, joined the tweeting tilers to find out more about Schlüter’s product range. He was also impressed, and said: “To work with the market leader in tiling solutions was a fantastic experience and one I’m glad I didn’t miss out on. The structure of the two days was absolutely spot on and very useful when it came to putting the skills I had learnt into practice in my day to day work.” Organiser Stewart also added: “The workshops exceeded all my

Ian Knifton, Divisional Manager of Schlüter- Systems, commented: “We are thrilled that the reputation of the Innovation Workshops has reached the medium of social media and, even

better, resulted in bringing together tilers from across the country. It just goes to show that the confidence in Schlüter-Systems training is so high that tilers will travel a great distance to ensure they possess the necessary skills to keep their installations at a high standard.”

Installers have been quick to recognise the benefits of attending, with the first quarter of 2013 already booked up and more dates being added throughout the year to meet demand. Attendees

to the workshops will also become certificated by Schlüter-Systems for a period of two years. Once this period has elapsed, they will be encouraged to attend a refresher course before being issued with further certification.

By maintaining a list of those installers who have completed each course, Schlüter-Systems are also able to point prospective customers in the direction of those it knows can handle their particular requirements. This will no doubt result in the successful installation of Schlüter-Systems products which, in turn, will safeguard the long-term integrity of the end-user’s installations.
