lubricants and worked its way into the mechanism. Also, of course, this resulted in a dramatic deterioration in their appearance, which doesn’t create a favourable impression or reflect well on the environment.
Dirty escalators look horrible and suggest to customers that their owners just don’t care. Historically, some owners and contractors bought machines which could only attempt to clean the steps; this is the part of an escalator you don’t see from a distance. Now, effective deep cleaning of steps and risers (the vertical part of the step) can be undertaken quickly, onsite. Escalators and travelators are only out of service for a short time: pretty crucial in airports, shopping centres and railway stations.
Using the right solvent is paramount. People bring grit in on their shoes and the wrong solvent or concentration ratio can leave a sticky residue which removes the grit. The grit becomes trapped in the grooves and can quickly enter the mechanism. Rosemor RC-91 is the culmination of many years of

extensive research and development and is perfect for the task.
That’s not all they have in the pipeline though; their international network, combined with web- based enhanced video training, have together created the first dynamic international network for the supply and maintenance of cleaning systems. Rosemor International has always focused on a commitment to excellence, and it’s their hope to continue to set the same standard. How? By focused investment in advanced technology, product development, employees and infrastructure, with increased emphasis on economy and energy conservation.
Their Business Development Director, Gerry Copitch, has just returned, breathless, from CMS Berlin, where they launched three new machines. “Wow! Our new E15B really attracted attention,” he said. “Unlike its predecessor, the Rotomac 360, this new machine has a new control panel, four operating speeds, 15 brushes and battery back-up so,
if there’s a power cut, you can still remove it from an escalator and return it to its transport trolley.
“The new ET15B, combined with an automatic travelator deep cleaning attachment is officially a huge success. Journalists were literally queuing up for pictures and it featured heavily in most of the publications at the show. I hope we can build the new T10i independent travelator cleaning machines quickly enough to satisfy initial demand; they are more compact, more effective and even have a much lower price than their predecessor.
“We not only had all the great conversations we expected in respect of Germany, but also several with keen potential distributors in other key countries. I can hardly wait for ISSA in Holland, in May. We have rebooked Berlin for next year and also Thailand, which is at the same time: a nice logistical problem to have.”
