MITIE Toasts To Multi-Million Pound


Contract With Mitchells & Butlers MITIE has been awarded a £38million waste management and cleaning contract with Mitchells & Butlers, the leading operator of restaurants and pubs in the UK.


The new contract is for a three year period, and builds upon MITIE’s existing relationship with Mitchells & Butlers. They will provide recycling and environmental services at 1,600 restaurants and pubs all over the UK, offering Mitchells & Butlers an innovative approach to recycling and increased efficiencies. MITIE will also deliver cleaning at 650 establishments, standardising service levels across the estate.


Martyn Freeman, Managing Director of MITIE's Facilities Management Business, commented: “We are delighted to be working with Mitchells & Butlers, and building on our strong relationship to


provide them with our world-class environmental services.


“This important contract award demonstrates how MITIE can bring value, innovation and high- quality services to clients through a strategic FM model.”


Jamie Swanston, Head of Corporate and Retail Procurement at Mitchells & Butlers, highlighted why the decision was taken to award the contract to MITIE. He said: “MITIE demonstrated its ability to manage an estate of the scale and diversity of Mitchells & Butlers. It's innovative solution to waste management aligns with our strategy of improving our sustainable waste management performance and reducing our costs.”


Mitchells & Butlers owns a portfolio of brands including Harvester, Toby Carvery, All Bar One, O’Neills’s, Nicholson’s, Miller & Carter, Browns and Vintage Inns.


Jangro Moves For Macmillan


Jangro, the UK’s largest network of independent janitorial supply companies with 41 Member companies across the UK are working together for Macmillan Cancer Support.


The fund raising started with a head office staff sponsored walk around the Pennine Moors, in Lancashire, which raised £1,252. Kyle Macintyre ran the Edinburgh Half Marathon raising £500, for Co-An UK Ltd., Jangro’s Perthshire Member. Then, Swift Catering Supplies and other Jangro Members joined the national Macmillan Big Coffee Morning. Swift also organised a competition to guess the number of coffee beans in a bag.


Mark Cullumbine, of Ace Janitorial in Sheffield, organised a poker tournament 6m underwater, which raised £6,000, while Hygiene Cleaning Supplies Morecombe raised

Tickets for the Jangro Christmas raffle are now available from head office and Member companies. Prizes include an iPad, £250 worth of Red Letter Days, a Kindle Fire, an iPod Touch, £100 M&S vouchers, a camera, a Henry vacuum and a food hamper.


Events are already being planned for 2014, starting with the Jangro Head Office team’s sponsored two hour aerobics Zumba session.

Boards Approve Merger Plans


Asset Skills, CSSA and the FMA have confirmed merger plans following the board meetings of all three organisations.


The merger aims to provide effective trade body representation with a membership structure, which encompasses corporate bodies, SMEs and service users.


Sarah Bentley, Chief Executive at Asset Skills, said: “We are thrilled to announce that the merger will happen following formal agreement from the boards. This is the beginning of a progressive and innovative organisation that will provide bespoke services and opportunities for each sector. We have some great plans developing, and there will be more information regarding benefits announced shortly.”


The merger of the organisations will be finalised in November, following approval of a special resolution by the members.
