WSMA Accreditation Program
Beginning with the current school year, individual schools can become WSMA Accredited Members. In order to be a WSMA Accredited school, all of the follow- ing must be true:
• The school must be a current member of WSMA.
• The school must participate in District Solo & Ensemble Festival.
• At least one of each type of perform- ing group offered at the school (band/ choir/orchestra) must participate in a large group experience (rated concert festival or clinic) every year.
WSMA Accreditation will include website recognition as well as a certificate sent to the administrator and music teachers of accred- ited schools. The first WSMA accreditations will be awarded in spring for the 2017–18 school year.
In addition, School Solo & Ensemble fes- tival eligibility is no longer affected by concert participation (Festival Rule A. IIIA). As before, students must meet the eligibil- ity requirements stated in Festival Rules III.A. 1-3.
x WSMA High School State Honors Music Project
Over 1,400 students auditioned for the WSMA High School State Honors Music Project in 2018 – a milestone year, celebrating 50 years of the project! Congratu- lations to students and teachers for their commitment to this project and musical excellence. Regardless of the decision made by the selection committee, WSMA wishes to thank all students, parents and music teachers for taking the initiative to prepare for these highly competitive auditions.
